Project Description
Seattle City Light is updating aging streetlights and electrical infrastructure throughout the utility's service area to enhance safety and electrical reliability. There are no scheduled power outages associated with this work.
Location
Crews are working throughout City Light's service territory to replace aging streetlights and electrical cables that are past their service life.
What's Happening Now?
Project Update (September 2023): The first phase of this project is expected to begin in early October along W Galer St and Magnolia Blvd W between W Garfield St and 29th Ave W. Future phases have not been scheduled at this time.
Community Benefits
This project will enhance service reliability by replacing aging streetlights, wires, and equipment from our system. The installation of new streetlights will also improve street visibility and safety.
Anticipated Impacts
- Customers can expect parking, sidewalk, and traffic impacts within the work zone. Construction signs and traffic control flaggers will redirect pedestrians and vehicles where needed.
- Some noise is expected during construction.
- Crews will restore and repave all affected areas under SDOT restoration guidelines.
- No planned power outages are needed to complete this work safely.
